On May 30th at 2:09pm, Patrolman Jim Purcell arrested Thomas Taylor, 82, of Barnegat for harassment in connection with a disturbance at the Barnegat Food Pantry.
Officers were called to the food pantry by a food pantry volunteer who reported that Taylor had become irate when she would not give him a key to a secured area of the Food Pantry to which he was not authorized access. She alleged that Taylor, who is also a food pantry volunteer, yelled and cursed at her as well as shook his fist in close proximity to her. The victim related that she has been subjected to this behavior by Taylor on multiple occasions in the past.
Taylor was placed under arrest at his residence and was transported to police headquarters for processing. He was released on his own recognizance pending a court date.
