On December 3rd at 5pm, members of the Barnegat Police Narcotics Unit arrested Valarie Saunders, 34, and Joshua Saunders, 30, both of Toms River on drug charges.
The officers were in the area of the Barnegat Food Mart on Route 9 when they observed both Saunders snorting a white powder while sitting in a vehicle in the parking lot.
Officers made contact with the subjects and recovered 117 alprazolam pills, 98 endocet pills, and 52 oxycodone pills. The 267 pills have a combined street value of $2,300.
In addition, officers discovered that Joshua had $71,298 in outstanding child support warrants.
Valarie Saunders was charged with possession of oxycodone with intent to distribute, distribution of oxycodone, possession of alprazolam (all 3rd degree) and possesion of drug paraphernalia and was processed and released pending a court date.
Joshua Sanders was charged with possession of oxycodone and possession of oxycodone with intent to distribute. He was lodged in the Ocean County Jail in default of bail on the child support warrants.
