On November 5th at 8:00pm Barnegat Police communications officers observed suspicious activity near an electrical meter at a Lexington Blvd address. The communications officers were inside the Barnegat Police Department Communications Center monitoring video from security cameras mounted in the Lexington Blvd area when they observed a female subject appearing to tamper with an electrical meter while another female subject held a surfboard in a manner that appeared to be an attempt to block the view from the security cameras. The communications officers notified Ptl. Nicholas Dapuzzo.
Ptl. Dapuzzo was able to review the video and positively identify the subject tampering with the meter as Annmarie Locke, 29, of Barnegat. Ptl. Dapuzzo responded to Locke’s Lexington Blvd residence and placed her under arrest after determining that she had tampered with the electric meter to restore her electric service which had been turned off by Jersey Central Power and Light.
Locke was charged with theft of services and criminal mischief. She was processed and released pending a court date.
